I
rakli Gejadze, honourable, composer; teacher; public and art promoter was born in 1925. In 1946-52 years he played the violin in the orchestra of Rustaveli Theater. In 1948-52 years he was a chairman of woman’s group at the Institute of foreign Languages. In 1955-56 he studied in the state academy of arts.
In 1957 he has granted conservatoire of Tbilisi, the class of composition A. Machavariani. In 1963-78 years he headed the First musical school. In 1992-96 years he was the secretary of composer’s Union. Irakli Gejadze taught instrumental studies at the Conservatory.
The third symphony of Irakli Gejadze is regarded as the highest achievement in the modern Georgian music.
He is a participant of the Second World War.
Major compositions: opera “Gantiadi”, musical comedy “Two Records”, oratorio “Eternity”, two concerts for violin and orchestra, symphony “Requiem”, program symphony “Vardzia”. Has created chamber-instrumental, choral works and music for performances and movies.
Irakli Gejadze was and excellent painter. He has performed numerous portraits, which are protected in the private collections.
